At 11.30pm on July 4th, a tragic incident occurred at the Manaka Hamono Tanrenjo knife workshop in Saitama, Tokyo. An electrical fault and excessive heat sparked a fire, in which his entire workshop, warehouse, inventory, equipment, one vehicle, and 30% of his family home were destroyed.

Miraculously, Manaka San and his family escaped the fire unharmed.

Removing the rubble and rebuilding his workshop, warehouse, inventory, and family home is going to cost significantly more than his insurance is willing to provide, which puts the future of Manaka Hamono Tanrenjo in jeopardy.
